A gift for Dad

A gift for Dad

Wednesday, August 31st, 2011

Wow, it’s nearly Fathers day! The day when Dad’s all over Australia get to spend a lovely day as the centre of attention. Whether their babies are human or the furry, feathered, finned, scaley or other kind – a Dad is a Dad. And this is their day!

If you’re stuck for a gift idea for Dad, you could go with the old faithfuls – socks, jocks and deodorant… or you could check out these ideas for a gift from the heart:

  • A professional photo of his favourite kid – you know, the ones that don’t talk back, don’t spend all his money and always look at him with admiration no matter how old they are. Yep Dad’s favourite pet. Some pet photographers will even let you have your human kids in the photos too!
  • DIY – An ‘I love you’ print. Stick a nice photo onto a piece of card and get the kids to write ‘I love you Dad because…’ and list the reasons. If your kids are the furry kind you might have to help them write… Pop in a nice frame.
  • A weekend away with the entire family – Pets included! Find a great place to stay where the pets are welcome and everyone can have a fun holiday to remember.
  • A fathers day picnic – pack a picnic, take the babies and let Dad relax and have some fun in the sun. Don’t forget to include his favourite treats in your hamper.
  • A weekend away where the pets have their own holiday. If you are planning a holiday without pets – kennels, catteries, homecare or pet minders can care for your pet. Enjoy your holiday without worrying about them!
  • DIY – Handprint, footprint or pawprint. Get some non-toxic, washable paint, dip a paw in and make a pawprint on some nice card. Find a special poem to write on it or write your own!
  • Is Dad ready for another Bestie? Put an adoption website link in a card, or take him for a surprise visit to an adoption facility and see if he meets a new friend. Remember, pets are not gifts so make sure Dad has talked about it before and knows what kind of pet he wants, and how to look after it. Pets need forever homes, and in return they’ll offer you forever love. It’s well worth it :-)

Happy Fathers Day Dads
