Pre-purchase/adoption consultation

A high proportion of people shopping for a new puppy or dog know very little about the origins of the breed and the requirements the dog will need for a healthy and stimulating life.
I can help you decide which breeds will be most suitable by meeting you and discussing your lifestyle and surrounds, and talking about the relationship you are hoping to have with your new pet.
The needs and characteristics of the many varied breeds can be compared to ensure a suitable choice for a perfect partnership.

Problematic/Undesirable behaviour

Dogs, just like us can have a broad and varying array of habits. These may be annoying, destructive, frustrating or unusual. I can guide you in identifying the possible reasons for the behaviour, and assist with positive techniques to modify or eliminate these habits.
Problems may include but not limited to:
- pulling on the lead
- jumping up
- barking
- digging, chewing, destructive behaviour
- mouthing
- feeding problems
- leadership / guidance problems
- rushing through doors
- inappropriate toileting
- stealing food
- not coming when called
- anxiety at the vet
- dislike for car travel

Manners and general obedience

You are your dog’s best friend and he wants to be included in alot of the things you do and places you go. Having a well-mannered and obedient pet can make this possible, and you can have confidence in his behaviour.
I can coach you in training your dog, achieving great results by using positive rewards.
I cover many basic behaviours and activities such as:
- sit
- stand
- stay
- drop
- wait
- come when called
- lead walking
- mat training
- leave an item when asked

Your own pregnancy is arguably the most important and exiting time in your life. Your family and household are about to undergo extreme changes in priorities and routine.
This can be a very stressful and confusing time for your dog.
Changing some of your dog’s routines and behaviours prior to and after the event can have great benefits and will aid him with the transition into a new family environment.
I discuss these techniques and tips used to introduce new babies & family members.
I can help you train your dog to walk nicely beside a pram, teach him which toys are his and which can’t be touched.

Veterinary Nurses Workshops (for Vet Clinics)

Visiting the Vet can be a stressful experience for many pets, so it is important that nursing staff can recognise and interpret the subtle signs and behaviours that our pets display.
I present an interactive program to veterinary nursing staff that will enable them to effectively manage and minimise stress to those patients, avoid potential altercations in the waiting room, and to make the patients hospital stay as pleasant as possible.
